Things to do in Vienna at night: concerts, opera and more
Concerts, opera, a carriage ride or an evening at a wine tavern: what Vienna offers after dark, and where to see every night in one list.
Every evening in one list
With one or two evenings in Vienna, the hard part is choosing. Vienna Evening lists what is on in the city each night, from concerts, opera and ballet to Fiaker rides and wine evenings, sorted by start time. Its What's on page shows tonight, tomorrow and the weekend, so you can see what fits between dinner and the walk back to your hotel.
Vienna Evening is run by The Vienna Evening Company, which also handles the bookings for our concerts.
Classical concerts most nights
Vienna has a concert almost every evening, and Vienna Evening lists eight concert series in Vienna side by side: Vivaldi's Four Seasons in the Karlskirche, Mozart in historical costume at the Musikverein and the Hofburg, the Schönbrunn Palace Concerts in the palace Orangery, chamber music at the Mozarthaus, the Peterskirche off the Graben, and our own evenings in three halls near the Ring. You can compare the rooms by size, seating, length and price before you choose.
Opera and ballet
For something grander, Vienna Evening sells tickets for opera and ballet at the Vienna State Opera. Its guide to standing room explains the cheapest way in: the house sells those places itself, on the day.
Beyond the concert hall
Not every evening needs a stage. A Fiaker ride takes you through the old town in a horse-drawn carriage, on a short tour of twenty minutes or a grand tour of forty. A Heuriger evening in Grinzing brings you to the wine taverns on the edge of the city, and an evening walking tour shows the centre after dark.
By day there is a free walk at 10:30 from Albertinaplatz, the morning exercise of the Spanish Riding School and the hop-on hop-off bus.
Day trips and city passes
With a free day, you can take one of the day trips from Vienna: Bratislava by Twin City Liner, Hallstatt, or Salzburg and Hallstatt. A page on Vienna city passes compares the Vienna City Card, the Vienna FLEXI Pass and the Vienna PASS, and works out when each one pays for itself.
Before you book
Prices on Vienna Evening are the whole price with no booking fee, and every line shows its refund date before you pay. Its journal has guides on where to eat, Vienna with children and what to wear.
